Kalinga police chief Police Col. Freddie Lazona said 205 marijuana bricks weighing a kilo each totaling 205 kilograms and 45 tubular dried marijuana leaves weighing 22.5 kilograms, 25 vacuum-sealed dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops weighing 6.25 kilograms, and six grams of suspected shabu were found in the car, a Mitsubishi Pajero with license plates UST-711.
Recovered marijuana weighed a total of 233.75 kilograms and the confiscated shabu had a standard drug price (SDP) of P40,800.
Police discovered the contraband following information that a Mitsubishi Pajero is transporting marijuana from Tinglayan, Kalinga to Tabuk City.
Also recovered were one black backpack and two license plates (JZS-649).
Onsite inventory and markings of pieces of evidence were conducted in the presence of Department of Justice and media representatives and the chairman and a kagawad (councilor) of Barangay Dupag.
Lazona said that there is no let-up in their campaign against illegal drugs.
“Kalinga PPO is continuously conducting pro-active operations with the cooperation of the public to strengthen its efforts to eliminate all forms of illegal drugs in order to achieve our quest for a drug free province.”
“Operatives are conducting follow-up investigation and operation against the driver of the vehicle used,” Lazona added.
