Trucks weighing more than 15 tons are not allowed to pass through the aging Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, the Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH) announced on Thursday.

“The aging Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan is already showing signs of deterioration, as manifested in the continuous appearance of openings on the deck slab,” the DPWH Cagayan said in a statement.

“Relative to this, heavy trucks weighing more than 15 tons are not allowed to pass over the bridge to prevent any untoward incident."

The DPWH-Cagayan advised motorists to take alternate routes.

“Vehicles weighing more than 15 tons are advised to take the Daang Maharlika route in Isabela when traveling to and from the province of Cagayan,” it said.

“We request everyone’s cooperation, as public safety is the top priority. Thank you for understanding."
