MANILA, Philippines — An additional 158 new coronavirus infections were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, its COVID-19 tracker showed.
This is the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases that the DOH logged for a day this year.
The DOH coronavirus tracker also showed that active COVID-19 infections decreased further to 18,815 from Mondays 19,923 while the total number of confirmed cases reached 3,683,637 nationwide – including 3,604,570 recoveries and 59,982 deaths – as of April 19.
A total of 20,633 samples were also tested for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes serious respiratory illness COVID-19, on April 18, according to the DOH.
Based on the latest weekly report of the DOH, an average of 239 new cases per day or a total of 1,674 fresh infections were registered from April 11-17.
