Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 27) — The commuting public can still enjoy free MRT-3 rides at least for another month.
The Department of Transportation and the Metro Rail Transit Line-3 management said on Wednesday that the "Libreng Sakay" program has been extended until May 30 "to continue helping our commuters ease their financial burden amid inflation and rising fuel prices."
Free rides at the MRT-3 started on March 28 and was initially meant to last until April 30 only.
The extension will also allow the MRT-3 management to further test its capacity and performance in accommodating more than 350,000 passengers a day, it added.
Over 7.2 million passengers were able to benefit from the program since its launching, the DOTr said.
